Submission DEADLINE: Friday June 5th 5PM (NY TIME)

AGENCY DEAL DETAILS

– The top 10 finalist will be able to submit music to the agency during a 4 year term through an agreement with Beats Planet. This would be a simple agreement mentioning the splits below:

– Songs written over Beats Planet (DJ Naydee) instrumentals will carry an industry standard split of the writers share of publishing Royalties. These splits would be as follows: 25% Artist or Lyric writers(s), 25% Music Composers. (i.e. DJ Naydee).

– Once selected as a finalist, you WILL be able to submit songs produced by others though you’ll need to own the exclusive rights to those instrumentals and they cannot contain any uncleared samples. The song writers share of royalties for such songs would be split as follows: 25% Artist (or all songwriters), 25% Beats Planet, 50% Music composer (Usually the other producer).

NOTE: The writers share of publishing is 50% of the whole, the remaining 50% is referred to as the publishers share and would be divided between the agency and the TV/FILM publishing companies.

– For both deals any upfront licensing fees paid by the FILM/TV companies for placements would be divided as follows: 60% Agency, 20% Artist, 20% Beats Planet.

– Artist cannot already have a publishing deal which would require their publisher to receive a cut from publishing royalties.
– Lyrics must be 100% original, co-writers are allowed however they will need to be in full agreement of the splits mentioned above.
– Curse words are ok but artist must also submit a clean version. Its preferred that alternate words are used as oppose to muting or reversing.
– Music that is submitted to the agencies catalog, would require they are the only company/ or individual that has rights to license those songs to TV/FILM projects. You are still free to sell, promote, shoot music videos and all other normal tasks required to release and promote your music.

The Agency or Beats Planet are not responsible for any typographical errors on this page and reserve the right to alter these terms if required throughout the terms of the Talent Search.

BEATS PLANET DEAL DETAILS

– Finalists will be awarded with unlimited Premium Beat Leases from Beat Planet site (Those solely Produced by DJ Naydee).
– Such songs recorded over these instrumentals will need to be submitted to the Agency so they can pitch it to FILM/TV Projects.
– You will be able to also place songs on your album, sell them, promote and all of the normal channels
– This is non-exclusive so you can still record over other producers instrumentals though if submitted those, different royalty splits would apply if the Agency places those songs. (SEE AGENCY DEAL)
– For both deals any upfront licensing fees paid by the FILM/TV companies for placements would be divided as follows: 60% Agency, 20% Artist, 20% Beats Planet.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MUSIC FOR THIS DEAL?

We have created a dedicated section for this Talent Search called Beats Planet Music
Its a very familiar interface, similar to Soundcloud. Artist will need to create an account on there, upload their photos, Write a small bio and upload their Mp3s. This portal is open so other participants can comment, like and share your songs. Feel free to invite you social friends to come by your page, leave comments and likes as well. Though this is not part of the judgement criteria, it may just help influence their impression of your music if others are also showing you love.

CAN I SUBMIT SONGS PRODUCED BY OTHERS?

The 2 song initial Submissions for consideration of this deal, requires that you only use Beats Planet Instrumentals. However, if selected as one of the finalist you will be able to submit songs produced by others. (See AGENCY DEAL for more details)

AM I UNDER A RESTRICTIVE CONTRACT?

Absolutely not, these contracts are non-binding so if you’re later offered a record deal or similar you’re free to do so. The only restriction is regarding the songs you submit to the agency. They require that the Agency is the only company pitching those particular songs on your behalf. Otherwise it can cause a conflict.

WHAT TOPICS SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?

– Unlike regular album music, songs that land many TV/FILM placements are a bit more general in nature. Artists should avoid writing songs that are too closely related to themselves.

Examples that wouldn’t work as well:
-A song that is all about your Artist name
-Songs written about an experience only you’ve had

Good examples:
– Songs about experiences other can relate to

– Lyrics must be 100% original, co-writers are allowed however they will need to be in full agreement of the splits mentioned in Agency Deal Section.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR STYLE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR?

No particular style, Just be creative! Being that this opportunity will be sent out to many different projects, a diverse amount of styles are necessary. So long as it complements the instrumental you selected.

Rapping, Singing or a mixture of both are welcomed
